The grandmother, Lisa Davis, told ABC 7 that she was walking home with her grandchildren after an Easter egg hunt when the explosion happened.
“I was like, ‘Oh my God, I don’t know’ — I didn’t know where to go,” she said to the reporting agency.
The manhole at the next corner went up, too, so I couldn’t actually sprint straight ahead of me to the corner. “I didn’t know what to do except grab my grandson and run,” Davis added.
Additionally, Davis told ABC 7 that it wasn’t until she watched the video that she realized how near she and her grandsons were to the manhole.
“A foot, one foot of losing my family,” she stated.
