What the runner said to the opponent before striking her in the head with the baton is revealed by a lip reader.

Everett grabbed her opponent’s head and steered her off the track as she collapsed after Tucker, who was in second place, was struck by the baton.

She threw down her baton and dashed by, pointing at Tucker after making a second smacking gesture with her arm.

Medical examiners examined Tucker’s condition and determined that she had suffered a concussion and a “possible skull fracture.”

Everett clarified in a post-event interview that “I know my intentions and I would never hit someone on purpose.”

After that, Tucker said that Everett failed to check on her injuries or offer an apology. “They were by our side at the event,” her parents added.

They watched the footage during the event, but nobody came to check on her or apologized. “You would check on her even if it was a freak accident or a fluke.”
