When a person goes months without masturbating or having sex, this is what happens to their body.

‘They don’t approach their spouse with tenderness, sensitivity and demands for compromise,” sex therapist Sari Cooper told DailyMail.com, describing couples going through a sex drought in their relationship.

“They also lack the skill to resolve disagreements and resort to blaming each other, relentlessly criticizing each other, or provoking guilt as a means of satisfying their needs.”

Cooper elaborated by saying that although it’s natural to have a “dry period,” partners might develop serious issues if they go too long without sex.

Cooper noted that infidelity may occur when one person asks for the relationship to be more open so they can have their needs addressed ethically, while the other partner resorts to outside sexual activity.

A record-breaking 38% of adults in the 18–30 age bracket reported not having had a sexual partner in the last year, according to the 2021 California Health Interview Survey.

This is in contrast to 22% of the population who said they did not engage in sexual activity in the last year, as reported in the Los Angeles Times a decade ago.
