While looking for an 11-year-old girl who went missing two weeks ago, a body was discovered in a river.

On March 31, when Kaliyah, who had the day off from school, went into the water close to the Barge House Causeway, authorities were initially alerted to the girl’s disappearance.

Authorities stated at the time that “emergency service crews arrived on the scene within minutes and carried out a thorough search in an attempt to locate her.”

According to the BBC, one witness remembered seeing two kids who were attempting to get assistance.

“Then they said ‘one of my friends was playing in the water, one of my friends has gone into water and she’s gone underneath and we can’t find her,'” stated Shaleen Rajaendram.

Another witness, who carried a life preserver to the river’s shoreline but was unable to locate Kaliyah, reportedly found the girl’s shoes, socks, and coat nearby.

And gave them to the police, according to the London Evening Standard and BBC News.
