In the midst of a court battle against Elon Musk, a former Tesla engineer has come out to say that her entire team was threatened with deportation.
Cristina Balan worked on the Model S for Tesla, however it has been stated that in 2014, she alerted Elon Musk, the company’s founder, of a possible safety concern with the brakes.
Musk assured all Tesla workers in a 2013 email that “anyone” at the firm “should” speak to “anyone without anyone else’s permission” and “should consider [themselves] obligated to do so until the right thing happens.”
Balan apparently spoke with a lawyer after bringing up the matter with Musk via email and requesting a meeting.
According to Balan, Tesla warned her that she had to leave her job and that if she didn’t, Tesla’s attorney would deport her team members.
