According to White House figures, Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has reduced more than $1 billion in only three weeks. The White House estimates that the termination of over 100 diversity,
Equity, and inclusion (DEI) contracts will result in some of the largest savings. One of Trump’s first presidential actions was to abolish DEI in the federal government.
According to the White House, just those cancellations saved more than $1 billion. A $748 million deal for a new embassy in South Sudan was also terminated by DOGE.
Smaller cutbacks affected $26 million in contracts for “executive coaching” and “strategic communication,” as well as $500,000 in NASA subscriptions.
To the news source Politico. On the evening of February 10, DOGE’s X account revealed about $1 billion in new cutbacks.
They include $881 million in other contracts with the agency of Education, an agency Trump has discussed abolishing, and $101 million in training grants tied to DEI.
