After leaving her house to see a customer, Costello vanished from West Babylon, New York, on September 2, 2010. Three months later, at Gilgo Beach, police found her remains.
The 27-year-old escort’s roommates had kicked a client out of their house before she vanished, claiming he had threatened her.
These roommates also provided police with information about the Chevrolet Avalanche Costello left behind the night she vanished; it was the same model of vehicle that Heuermann was driving.
In July 2023, he was accused with her murder. Costello’s buddy recalled her “quirky” and “goofy” demeanor in Gone Girls, saying, “[She would] give you the shirt off her back.”
