According to court filings, Taylor was last seen on July 19, 2003, while working as an escort in midtown Manhattan.
She gave her mother a call two days later and arranged to come see her the following week for her birthday. She called the police when her daughter failed to appear.
On July 26, 2003, someone walking their dogs discovered the 20-year-old’s fragmentary remains. According to NPR, more of her remains were eventually found in 2011 at Gilgo Beach’s Ocean Parkway.
According to the prosecution, Taylor was murdered in 2003 between July 21 and July 26.
