Earlier this month, a female legislator displayed a nude picture of herself to the New Zealand parliament, causing a stunning moment.
Laura McClure boldly shared everything in front of her classmates on May 14th, even though she was “absolutely terrified” to make her point.
Members of the House of Representatives were given a clear photograph of her in the nude, even though the photo was severely redacted.
McClure told parliament that utilizing artificial intelligence to create a mock-up of the graphic photo of herself was surprisingly easy, taking just a few minutes.
She wants New Zealand to follow the example set by countries like the US, UK, China, and Australia by enacting stringent laws that prohibit the use of the technology to produce unsettling deepfakes.
