Born in Trinidad and Tobago, Marlon Parris has been in ICE detention since January. His father, a naturalized US citizen, brought him to the US as a toddler in 1997.
Parris became entangled in a complex cross-country cocaine smuggling network after serving two tours in Iraq.
He and thirteen other defendants were accused of transporting massive quantities of cocaine from the Los Angeles region to Baltimore, Maryland, by private aircraft.
According to court documents, Parris and another man would take the cocaine on chartered planes, distribute it to distributors in Baltimore, and then take.
The money they made from the narcotics dealings back to Los Angeles. Parris spent almost six years in federal jail after entering a guilty plea.
