Within three days of one another, Conan O’Brien’s parents, Dr. Thomas O’Brien and Ruth Reardon O’Brien, passed away this week.
Both were pioneers in their respective professions of medicine and law. The forward-thinking epidemiologist Dr. O’Brien passed away on Thursday at the age of 95.
His wife passed away on Monday at the age of 92. She was a lawyer who broke down barriers for women in the legal profession.
Both of them passed away in their Brookline, Massachusetts, home after 66 years of marriage. Regarding his deceased father, Conan, 61, told The Boston Globe.
“I will be receiving calls from individuals who want to speak with me about my dad for the remainder of my life.
He’s my father, and I’ve never encountered anybody like him. I would ask myself, “Who the hell is this guy?” if I were to run into him in a hotel lobby. “He’s the most fascinating individual I’ve ever encountered.”
