At the second trial, Silveira stated that he and his wife were tortured into carrying out the act by Oliveira, his lover, and that they were otherwise blameless.
Additionally, he asserted that he had concealed material to support Oliveira, and it appeared that he attempted to blame the trio’s behavior on her being a witch since she was 17.
At the time of the arrests, Silveria’s book was discovered by the police. The title of the book was “Revelations of a Schizophrenic.”
