‘Actually nonbinary’: BBC Olympics announcer corrects co-host for failing to use ‘they/them’ pronouns while referring to the female shot putter

American shot putter Raven Saunders was corrected by a BBC announcer who had mistakenly used the improper pronouns.

Since winning a silver medal in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Saunders has been the center of attention throughout the games due to her outspoken homosexual advocacy and unconventional clothing choices.

Athletes in track and field typically compete while wearing masks, have unusually long fingernails, and colorful hair.

The BBC’s Steve Backley had commented on her unconventional look at a recent Paris competition, although she was wearing her usual clothing.

Talking about the return of the eccentric Raven Saunders, host Backley announced it on the show. Nice to see her again, in a way. “You can kind of see her, you know?” he said, pointing to her mask.

Jazmin Sawyers, a British long jumper who is currently out with an injury, stepped in to correct Backley’s use of the wrong ambiguous pronoun.
