Officials said the jet had been in the air for about 45 minutes before the fatal accident, and the crew hadn’t reported bad weather or asked for assistance.
The crew did not attempt to contact any air traffic controllers at surrounding airports to alert the possibility of an emergency landing, according to Silvio Costa Filho, Minister of Ports and Airports.
“The entire crew was competent,” said Eduardo Busch, CEO of Voepass, according to CNN’s reporting at a news conference.
“We are waiting for access to all communications between the pilot and the control tower to have a broader understanding of what happened.”
