Wesley Bell, a primary opponent of U.S. Rep. Cori Bush (D-MS), has beaten Bush, who is known as one of the most liberal lawmakers in Congress.
This confirms what polls have shown for weeks: St. Louis prosecutor Wesley Bell is well ahead of the “Squad” Democrat.
Bell was determined to be six percentage points ahead in a recent survey conducted by the Democratic Majority for Israel, DMFI PAC.
Roughly 13% of the vote was needed to declare the winner just after 10 p.m. ET on Tuesday. At the time the race was called, Bell had a decisive lead.
For her stance against the war in Gaza, Bush, like many of her progressive colleagues, had been the object of a huge expenditure effort.
Additionally, her campaign suffered due to the several legal troubles she is now dealing with. Allegations of misappropriation of Congressional funding prompted a federal probe against the Missouri Democrat in January.
