“I hold a venomous license, and every cage with venomous snakes is locked and labeled,” Socratis claims. “We’ve never had an escape.”
The Tennessee Zoo is home to the “Rarest Snake” in the United States, which will soon be released into the wild.
“It’s a lot of work, but it’s rewarding, especially when you see your children grow up with such respect for nature,” said the father.
With thirty of her own snakes in her room, daughter Ariana has developed a particular interest in snakekeeping and often takes the critters to school for projects.
Among her favorite pets are Boeleni pythons Fancy and Megatron, who sometimes snuggle with the girl as she rests.
