As reported by CBS News, the jet departed Cascavel Airport at 11:46 AM local time and was its route to Guarulhos
International Airport in Sao Paulo. The plane took off at 12:23 PM and touched down at 1:21 PM after reaching a height of 16,404 feet.
The terrifying video that went viral showed the plane losing control and falling into a group of trees near some homes.
Authorities have verified that no homes were hit and that no one was hurt on the ground when it landed.
“It fell next to a house, on a lot,” said Dario Pacheco, mayor of Vinhedo, according to the New York Times.
“Right next to it, a local resident reported hearing a loud noise upon waking up and bolting for cover; he said everyone in the area did the same out of fear of an explosion.”
