A sentence in Juno that “didn’t register at the time” is the one that Elliot Page says he wishes he could take back.

 

Page has repeatedly expressed his remorse at having to make that “joke” in the years after the film’s premiere.

“It wasn’t something I totally registered at the time, but, of course, now that I’m older I do,” he stated in a 2017 interview with Bustle.

“So many movies I loved as a kid are just rampant with homophobia and transphobia and biphobia, and I’m not excusing it by any means.”

In addition to avoiding the homophobic remark, he has refused to recite the line at film table readings.

Page has also said in the past that they felt “complicated” about the breakthrough picture and how it “boxed them in” due to the prominent female character.
