At a press conference in the late afternoon, Barnes said, “We believe that pre-planned or planned shootings are preventable.”
“Speak up and take action if you witness warning signs of someone preparing an attack.” Investigations are underway to determine the purpose behind the shooting, which claimed two lives.
Also deceased is the gunman, who was characterized as a teenager. According to Trish Kilpin, head of the Wisconsin Justice Department’s division of school safety, “targeted violence is preventable.”
“They don’t lose their cool when someone carries out a school shooting. They don’t suddenly decide to act in such a heinous manner.
“Instead, they decide to commit an act of violence and begin planning and researching it,” she added.
“And they frequently exhibit observable behaviors that others notice when they’re on that path to violence.”
