As the Department of Education moves to implement historic change, the news comes as scores of staff members got letters over the weekend putting them on administrative paid leave.
Some department workers are now concerned about the agency’s future due to Trump’s rhetoric, which includes months of threats to close the department.
One employee said they were put on administrative leave from their “dream job.” “It’s really unsettling because it seems like it could happen,” the worker said.
