‘Actually nonbinary’: BBC Olympics announcer corrects co-host for failing to use ‘they/them’ pronouns while referring to the female shot putter

Saunders protested at the medal ceremony after winning silver in the shot put event at the Tokyo Olympics.

As she stood on the stage, she allegedly made a protest sign in favor of “oppressed” people by raising her arms and crossing her wrists to make an X.

“Raven Saunders Protests on the Podium,” women’srunning.com announced. “When asked what the ‘X’ meant, [Saunders] responded: ‘It’s the intersection of where all people who are oppressed meet.'”
During that time, Saunders expressed her desire to motivate “many young girls, so many young boys, so many LGBTQ people, and so many people that have battled suicide,” as reported by the Huffington Post.

A journalist for the Associated Press claims that Saunders’ eccentric wardrobe is an aspect of her “alter ego,”

The Hulk, Raven Saunders’ alter persona, is revealed just before a shot put tournament, according to writer Patrick Graham. “That includes mask, sunglasses, gold teeth, hair dyed green and purple and long bedazzled nails.”
