Actual limbs. When she held her husband’s hand for the first time in years using her myoelectric prosthetic hands, it was one of her most poignant experiences.
“I hadn’t held Matt’s hand in a long time, so that was the first thing I did,” she remarked with tears in her eyes.
Matt, her husband and a staunch supporter, said he is amazed by her growth. “I think, ‘Oh my God, this is incredible,’ when I watch her walk,” he said.
Marie’s tale has inspired amputees all throughout the globe, even outside of Ohio. By sharing her experience and giving hope, she has made connections with those who have had similar difficulties.
Her tenacity has been acknowledged. “She persisted nonetheless,” Dr. Seth said. “And has simply been running ever since.”
