After advancing to the finals, Imane Khelif will compete for the gold medal.

From the moment she began boxing, the young athlete has competed in women’s divisions, and her passport indicates as much.

Following the heavy scrutiny that followed her match with Carini, Khelif advanced to Saturday, August 3, and defeated Anna Luca Hamori of Hungary in a unanimous decision to reach the quarterfinals of the tournament.

On Monday, August 6, she advanced to the finals after defeating Janjaem Suwannapheng of Thailand in all three rounds by unanimous decision. In the final, she will meet Yang Liu of China.

“I don’t care what anyone is saying about me with the controversy,” Khelif said, breaking her silence after avoiding social media criticism following her prior fights, according to The Independent.

Keeping my head down and giving my team what they deserve is my number one priority. This is a blessing for all Algerians, and I am confident in my abilities, she swore.

I am completely devoted…I am here to fulfill my goal and put on a nice show. She said, “I will give it my all on the final,” according to Metro’s reporting.
