After days of searching, the body of the grandma who fell into a Pennsylvania sinkhole was found.

According to authorities, the sinkhole is connected to a mine and is thought to have occurred when Pollard was out searching for her cat.

According to investigators, she was found around 12 feet from where the sinkhole was originally. It was hard for search crews to find Pollard at first since she hit the mound as she fell and rolled or slid to her ultimate location.

Now, efforts are being made to stabilize the region and stop disasters from happening again. Engineers are filling up the sinkhole, propping up the collapsed mine, and doing safety inspections in the surrounding regions.

During a news event on Friday, Unity Township Supervisor Mike O’Barto expressed his condolences to the Pollard family. “We hope no family has to endure this kind of heartbreak again.”

When officials concluded that it was doubtful Pollard could still be alive given the circumstances beneath, including oxygen levels, the risky search effort changed to a recovery operation on Wednesday.
