According to numerous outlets, the group released a statement on August 11 saying, “We firmly believe that Jordan rightfully earned the bronze medal and there were critical errors in both
the initial scoring by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) and the subsequent CAS appeal process that need to be addressed.”
Additionally, the USOPC stated that they attempted to provide video proof that Candi had submitted her inquiry within the allotted time.
“The first error happened in FIG’s scoring, and the second error happened in the CAS appeal process when the USOPC was not given enough time or notice to effectively challenge the decision,
” the USOPC said. Consequently, we did not have enough representation or the chance to make a thorough presentation of our case.”
Chiles also made a statement in which she expressed her gratitude for the support she has gotten in the wake of the events, calling it “overwhelming.”
