Ágnes, the oldest living Olympic medallist Keleti Passes Away at 103

Budapest, Hungary — The oldest surviving Olympic medal winner and Holocaust survivor, Ágnes Keleti, passed away. Her age was 103.

According to the Hungarian national news agency, Keleti passed away in Budapest on Thursday morning. On December 25, she was admitted to the hospital in severe condition due to pneumonia.

She represented Hungary in gymnastics in the 1952 Helsinki Games and the 1956 Melbourne Games, winning ten Olympic medals in all, including five golds.

She became one of the most successful Jewish Olympic athletes after overcoming the Holocaust, which claimed the lives of her father and numerous other family members.

On the eve of her 100th birthday, Keleti told The Associated Press, “These 100 years felt like 60 to me.” “I have a good life. I also adore life. That I’m still healthy is fantastic.

Her career was disrupted by World War II and the cancellation of the 1940 and 1944 Olympics. She was born Ágnes Klein in Budapest in 1921.
