The 25-year-old athlete’s performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics was marred by controversy after she defeated Italy’s Angela Carini on August 1.
Carini withdrew from the battle after only 46 seconds and collapsed to her knees, weeping. After it was confirmed that
she would not be advancing to the next round, she allegedly stated, “It’s not fair,” and then refused to clasp her opponent’s hand.
