Maggie Smith, the renowned actress who spent almost 70 years in the business, has passed away, her family said.
Toby Stephens and Chris Larkin, her sons, published a statement stating that Smith died quietly in the hospital early on Friday morning. The reason of death was not stated.
Smith’s family requested privacy at this difficult time and expressed gratitude to the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital personnel for their support and care during their mother’s last days.
Maggie began her professional acting career in the early 1950s, making several theatrical performances at some of England’s biggest venues.
