Elon Musk’s death while driving Tesla in “autopilot” mode is blamed by the family.

According to the lawsuit, however, Tesla “undertook a widespread campaign to conceal thousands of consumer reports about problems.

With [its] ‘Autopilot’ feature, including crashes, unintended braking, and unintended acceleration,” knowing all along that its vehicles couldn’t live up to the promise.

It charges Tesla executives with teaching front-line staff to “avoid memorializing customer reports in writing.”

According to the lawsuit, “when Tesla employees did reply to customer reports in writing, it was only to reassure customers that the ‘Autopilot’ feature was operating as intended.”

In addition, the case claims that Tesla violated the California civil code by forcing customers to sign nondisclosure agreements in order to obtain repairs under warranty.
