Five million people are no longer under a tsunami warning after a 7.0-magnitude earthquake off the coast of California.

 

Northern California was rocked by many seismic occurrences today, including the 7.0 earthquake. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, there were dozens of earthquakes.

In the town of Petrolia in Humboldt County, with magnitudes ranging from 3.1 to 4.2. Four more earthquakes were detected today in the Ferndale region.

In Oakland, one social media user said they felt the earthquake “pretty strongly,” while another posted a video of their swimming pool’s water trembling.

Before the advisory was quickly withdrawn, the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management cautioned that citizens were “in danger” and advised them to avoid coastal regions.

The agency said on X that “coasts near you may be impacted by a series of powerful waves and strong currents.” “You’re in danger.”

Avoid the seas. Now go inland or to high ground. Until local authorities declare it safe to return, stay away from the shore.
