Five million people are no longer under a tsunami warning after a 7.0-magnitude earthquake off the coast of California.

 

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services issued a statement warning that “widespread dangerous coastal flooding accompanied by powerful currents are possible.”

Californians need to heed the advice of their local emergency personnel. In an X post, California Governor Gavin Newsom said, “Get earthquake safety tips.”

“It serves as another reminder of the state in which we live and the mindset that we must apply to our daily lives here in California, with regard to earthquake preparedness,” Newsom said.
