Following a 7.0-magnitude earthquake, California and Oregon no longer had tsunami warnings.

At the meeting point of the Pacific, North American, and Juan de Fuca plates, the Mendocino fault zone is where the earthquake occurred.

According to Tobin, “this is the precise location where the San Andreas Fault starts and the Cascadia Subduction Zone ends to the south.”

“Over the past few decades, it has been the most seismically active location in California.” An earthquake of this size is not unexpected.

According to Tobin, it was the strongest earthquake to strike the region since the 1990s. therefore did not occur on the Cascadia Subduction Zone, he said, and therefore was unlikely to raise the likelihood of an earthquake there.

One of the most dangerous areas in the United States is the Cascadia Subduction Zone. From northern California to northern Vancouver Island in Canada.

The fault extends offshore along the West Coast. It may create earthquakes of magnitude 9.0 and waves of tsunamis up to 100 feet high.
