Beginning his career in the 1960s with the doo-wop group The Blenders and then creating the soul group The Butlers, Beverly went on to achieve considerable success. Maze gave him his big break

in the early 1970s, producing tunes like “Happy Feelin’s,” “While I’m Alone,” and “Before I Let Go,” which went on to become classics in the soul, funk, and R&B genres of the era.

The legend’s farewell tour and last performance, which lasted 50 years, took place in July at the Dell Music Center in North Philadelphia.
