At least four individuals lost their lives as Hurricane Helene battered the Southeast coast of the United States on Thursday night with strong winds and torrential rain.

Startling images showed damaged homes submerged in saltwater, increasing waves pounding the Florida shoreline, and Marine deputies in rescue boats cruising flooded communities.
