According to The Sun, the 43-year-old got medical care inside the jail after suffering injuries to his face and neck.
It is not believed that Urfan was admitted to the hospital. Regarding the incident, a Prison Service representative stated:
“Police are looking into a January 1 attack on a prisoner at HMP Belmarsh. While they look into it, it would be improper to make any further comments.
Officers are looking into “an allegation that a prisoner was assaulted at Belmarsh,” a Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said, adding that “the 43-year-old suffered non life-threatening injuries.”
