After that, Chiles linked the episode to a period of her career in 2018 when she had just graduated from high school,
had her senior international debut, and was getting closer to her goal of appearing in the Olympics in Tokyo. Nevertheless,
Chiles acknowledged that year that she “lost the love of the sport” as a result of an abusive coach—whom she did not identify—despite her achievements.
“I had the impression that I had lost my love for the sport back in 2018.” Once again, I’ve lost it. I just had the impression
that not many of the individuals I believed could help me in that circumstance were doing so. She said, “I really felt like I was in the dark.”
