Jordan Chiles, a gymnast from the United States, has been officially deprived of her bronze medal following a contentious decision.

“We are in communication with the NOC of Romania to discuss the reallocation ceremony and with USOPC regarding the return of the bronze medal,” it stated in a statement, as reported by People.

The IOC and the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) were informed of the CAS ruling in order to ascertain the appropriate method of medal redistribution.

The Romanian Olympic committee had requested that the IOC/FIG place “all three athletes [Chiles, Barbosu,

and Maneca-Voinea] in third position and the allocation of medals to all three athletes.” However, the committee ultimately resolved to reallocate the medal exclusively to Barbosu.

Chiles appeared to address the issue on her Instagram story prior to the CAS ruling being announced.

After only one week, an Olympian has stunned admirers by disclosing the condition of his medal: “The quality is not as high as one would expect.”

The Air Force veteran, 90, who was observed pawning jewelry to provide care for his wife with dementia, has raised more than $340,000.
