Live updates from the DC aircraft crash: Crews are waiting for equipment to remove the remaining remains

Following a Wednesday night collision with a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter, an American Airlines regional plane crashed into the Potomac River close to Ronald Reagan Washington National.

Airport in Washington, D.C., leaving no survivors. The aircraft took off from Wichita, Kansas, with sixty-four passengers. The chopper carried three troops.

The PSA Airlines Bombardier CRJ700 regional plane was approaching the airport at around 9 p.m. when the crash occurred.

It is anticipated that the recovery effort would continue at least into the weekend. According to those involved with the operation, recovery teams are now waiting on large equipment,
