To pay their condolences as the names of those killed in the aircraft disaster started to circulate around the figure skating community in the Washington, D.C., region.
Three child skaters are said to have died in the incident, and a group of young skaters and their parents paused the parade to lay flowers and other souvenirs at a temporary monument.
The three skaters were all very skilled and friendly, according to El, a 14-year-old competitive skater who knew them and requested that her last name not be used.

She replied, “They didn’t deserve this,” as her mother sat by her and wiped away her tears. “This was not fair to their families.”
