In a significant outage that impacted users worldwide on Wednesday, Meta’s platforms—Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Threads—went down.
According to monitoring website Down Detector, the company’s systems had a significant technical problem at about 6 p.m.
UK time, or 10 a.m. local pacific time. The site revealed that issues were present in several markets. For its user-facing applications.
Meta does not maintain official status pages. However, it admitted to the problems on a few of its official accounts.
On the official Instagram page on X/Twitter, it said, “Hey, we are aware that there is a technical problem affecting some people’s ability to access Instagram.”
“We apologize for any inconvenience and are working to return things to normal as soon as possible.”
