Over 250,000 workers of the Department of Homeland Security received an email from the agency’s leadership instructing them not to reply.
According to the email, “DHS management will respond on behalf of the Department and all its component offices.”
“At this moment, you don’t need to take any reporting action. Please hold off on responding to anything outside of your DHS line of command for the time being.
OPM had to do an after-the-fact privacy review as a result of a prior lawsuit about the development of a new email system and its data gathering activities. Any email answer is “explicitly voluntary,”
According to the paper, but it also notes that “there is a risk individuals will not realize their response is voluntary.” On Monday, however, President Trump backed Musk’s directive to workers.
“It was sent with a great deal of ingenuity. “Please tell us what you did last week,” is the letter we are sending to individuals in an attempt to determine if they are employed.
Trump told reporters in the Oval Office, “If people don’t respond, it’s very possible that there isn’t such a person or they’re not working.”
