The suspect then came up behind the victim as she was making her way to the conference hotel and fired several bullets, hitting her at least once in the right calf and once in the back.
Instead than being a random act of violence, she said, the killing seems to have been a “pre-meditated, pre-planned, targeted attack.”
The murder occurred on December 4, 2024, soon before seven in the morning. Authorities detained 26-year-old Luigi Mangione in Altoona,
Pennsylvania, five days later on December 9. After recognizing the culprit, a McDonald’s employee promptly alerted the police.
The cops told NBC News that Mangione “became quiet and started to shake” when they questioned him whether he had recently visited New York City.
