Imane Khelif’s father has addressed the gender debate by sharing her birth certificate on live TV. Imane Khelif of Algeria and Angela Carini of Italy got into a heated altercation, and word got out.

After failing a gender eligibility test, the International Boxing Association barred the Algerian athlete—who was born and brought up as a girl—from participating in a gold medal match in Delhi. However, she will be able to compete at the 2024 Olympics.
The Algerian Olympic Committee issued a statement before the contest in which they backed their boxer and condemned the abuse she had received.
