Symoné has previously spoken about how, as a young, professional actor, she felt constrained by social expectations.
“There were a lot of challenges,” the former co-host of The View, who came out as homosexual in 2013, said in a 2023 interview with E! News, adding that coming out wasn’t a simple choice.
“The wall that I had erected for so many years was collapsing. And I felt so exposed,” she said. “The wound that was made public was an intriguing one.”
“I want to be sure that the information I’m producing represents the community in which we live. Dignifiedly and with respect,” she said.
