The Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled that Chiles’ coaches were entitled to dispute the decision 64 seconds after the scores were posted, despite the fact that the deadline for such an action is precisely one minute,
following an appeal from the Romanian Federation of Gymnastics. She was relegated to fifth place as a result of the ruling, while Bărbosu was awarded the bronze and Maneca-Voinea advanced to fourth.
Bărbosu responded to the ruling by posting on Instagram on Sunday, stating, “Sabrina, Jordan, my thoughts are with you.
” I am aware of your emotions, as I have experienced a similar situation. Nevertheless, I am confident that you will emerge from this experience fortified.
“I fervently desire that all three of us will share the same podium at the upcoming Olympics.” She continued, “This is my genuine aspiration.”
“If the individuals in charge had adhered to the regulation, this situation would not have arisen.” We, athletes, are not to be held accountable, and the animosity directed toward us is distressing.
