Cara, a computer programmer analyst, came up with the idea to construct her family’s new home from the bottom up in 2007 since she couldn’t afford.
To purchase a house that would be suitable for all of her kids at that time. “If anyone were in our shoes, they would do this,” Cara said.
“I realize now that it sounds crazy, but no one else saw it like this.” She obtained a building loan of around $150,000 and paid $20,000 for a one-acre plot of property.
Her children helped construct their 3,500-square-foot house; the eldest was 17 at the time, and the youngest was just 2.
