Williams would be open about their connection over this meal, which Connolly now sees as a “goodbye” from his close buddy.
Remembering the meeting, he recalled: “He contacted me and said ‘let’s have dinner,’ and during the meal he said, ‘I love you,
‘ I responded thanks very much. ‘Do you believe me,’ he asked? I said, “of course I do”. “Believe me, I love you,” he said; I answered, “that’s great.”
Connolly continued, saying he didn’t really appreciate the weight of their last talk until he discovered Williams had taken his own life the next weekend.
“I thought ‘how strange, how weird for him to say that, it’s not like his usual'” On the weekend, he was dead,” he claimed.
“That was me bidding farewell constantly. He was the greatest ever. “That day was the worst when he took his life.”
