The airplane crashed in northern Campbell County, close to the Montana border. It had taken off from Nebraska and was headed toward Billings, Montana.
The hypothesis of mid-air breakup was supported by the debris that local law enforcement reported finding strewn across a considerable region.
Due to the plane’s high fuel load, the accident also caused a sizable fire, which local firemen fought from the air and the ground.
After an investigation, the NTSB plans to provide a preliminary report in around two weeks. The aircraft is located in a remote area, and Holloway said on Saturday that
“once (investigators) gain access, they will begin documenting the scene, examining the aircraft.” “After that, the aircraft will be recovered and brought to a secure facility for additional assessment.”
