“During the qualification period, these rules were also in effect for the following events: the 2023 European, Asian, Pan American, and Pacific Games boxing tournaments;
the 2023 African qualifying tournament in Dakar, Senegal; and the two world qualifying tournaments in 2024 in Busto Arsizio, Italy, and Bangkok,
Thailand. A total of 1,471 boxers representing 172 NOCs, the Boxing Refugee Team, and Individual Neutral Athletes participated, and more than 2,000 bouts were featured.
The Paris 2024 boxing regulations were developed by the PBU using the Tokyo 2020 standards as a foundation.
This was done to provide continuity between Olympic Games and to lessen the effect on competitors’ training.
