The owner of the bakery disputes Whoopi Goldberg’s assertion that they “refused” to provide a birthday dessert because of her “politics.”

Goldberg’s revelation elicited significant emotions from her co-hosts as well. Sunny Hostin said, “Oh, really?” while Sara Haines spat out her mouthful right away.

“They said that their ovens had gone down, all kinds of stuff, but folks went and got them anyway,” Goldberg said of the bakery, “which is why I’m not telling you who made them.”

Despite this, the Sister Act actress said to the audience, “It can’t be because I’m a woman, but perhaps they did not like my politics.”

“But that’s alright,” Goldberg went on, “because you discover something? This is my mother’s celebration, listen.

Grab these and join my mom and I in celebrating. I appreciate everyone’s efforts to celebrate my birthday today.

Entertainment Weekly identified the Staten Island bakery as Holtermann’s Bakery, although she did not specify which one it was.
